to look, to breathe, to speak, to believe, to touch, to go out, to do, to travel, to fly

There are verbs that we have especially longed for during the past year 2020. The restrictions applied due to the health crisis relegated the already limited collective use of public space to essential movement. In this kind of extreme situations, individuals can reach a state of loss of their own identity and, consequently, feel alienated to the new world that surrounds them.

Each one of the nine pieces of video art that conform the project 'Out' represents one of those verbs. All of them have been made in the streets of Sant Boi de Llobregat during the months of de-escalation, with two symbolic intentions: on the one hand, to empathize with the nostalgia that many people make them feel disconnected from their own reality and, on the other, to vindicate public space as a place where we can stop and play. The fictitious window or door present in all the interventions superimposes both places: the position of the alienated and the passerby.

Now that we are returning to the museums and the streets, it was time to unify those spaces of active transit, where verbs are getting back and one can sit and watch, breathe, speak, believe, touch, go out, do, travel and fly.

mirar, respirar, hablar, creer, tocar, salir, hacer, viajar, volar
